Hi, I am Mrs. Jefferis, the School Counselor at Cypress Creek Elementary School. My role as a School Counselor is to empower and help children to build on their strengths, become problem solvers, and overcome social and emotional barriers to learning. I work with students individually and/or in small groups and also do classroom lessons. Students can ask to speak to me or they can be referred by a teacher, staff member or their parent/guardian.

Life Skills

Here at CCE we have a Caring Otter Community
“Do unto otters as you would have otters do unto you.”

We are always on the lookout for students displaying the following Life Skills:

INTEGRITY: To act according to a sense of what's right and wrong
INITIATIVE: To do something, of one's own free will, because it needs to be done
FLEXIBILITY: To be willing to alter plans when necessary
PERSEVERANCE: To keep at it

Students will be selected as "Otter of the Week" for best displaying our Life Skill that week.

Bullying Prevention

Bullying is defined as systematically and chronically inflicting physical hurt or psychological distress on one or more students and may involve teasing, social exclusion, threat, intimidation, stalking, physical violence, theft, sexual, religious, or racial harassment, public humiliation, or destruction of property.

It is important to recognize the difference between conflict and bullying. (Remember "MOO"). It is bullying if it is:

M - Mean
O - On purpose
O - Over and over

If you believe that bullying is occurring, please communicate that with us!

We have an "Upstander Box" in the Front Office and one in the Cafeteria where students can report a concern. Students may choose to include their name or can be anonymous.
